Catheter ablation cardiac arrhythmia
The catheter provides a direct insight into the beating heart and in the mid-90s it was used first time. By this method, atrial fibrillation, the most common heart rhythmdisorder in Germany,can be eliminated.

Implementation
The ablation is performed in cardiology. Access to the heart is placed in the groinvessels through the locks. In order to ablate the previously localized locations steerable catheter,which heat pulses are introduced.
Complications
Over the last decades, the engagement has become a standard method, but it can lead to complications. Here the radiated heat can destroy an impulse conduction system. In the worst case, a pacemaker implantation becomes necessary. This occurs, however, very rare, only 1-2% of patients are affected by these complication.
